Stephen Yoo, M.D. is an Attending Surgeon at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He is an active member of the teaching faculty in the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Yoo attended Andrews University where he received his Bachelor of Science with honors. He received his medical doctorate from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Providence Hospital, where he was appointed Academic Chief Resident. He was fellowship trained in Colorectal Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital.
Dr. Yoo is board certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery.
His clinical and research interests include laparoscopy, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and the optimization of surgical outcomes. He has a special interest in the prevention and improvement of survival and recurrence rates of colorectal cancer. Dr. Yoo places special emphasis on the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, and anorectal disorders.
Dr. Yoo has presented his original research at national and international professional society meetings, including the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons and the International Hepatico-Pancreatico Biliary Association. He has ongoing research interests in decreasing post-operative infectious complications as related to the overall survival of colon cancer.
He is a member of The American College of Surgeons, The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, The Southern California Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and The American Medical Association.
